If you are 2 times your expected net worth, you are "Balance Sheet Affluent"

My goal is for my household to be a bit over BA (have 2.12 times its expected net worth) by the time my DH is 50.

Starting Number (4/30/07) = 1.32 times expected net worth

First Year Quarterly Goals:
7/31/07 = 1.440 [Result: 1.510]
10/31/07 = 1.435 [Result: 1.569]
1/31/08 = 1.430 [Result: 1.541]
4/30/08 = 1.425 [Result: 1.400]

Second Year Quarterly Goals:
7/31/08 = 1.550 [Result = 1.515]
10/31/08 = 1.550
1/31/09 = 1.545
4/30/09 = 1.530

TD Ameritrade Save Yourself Plan

I posted this on the forums, but I realized that some of the men may not read a thread titled "Women & Money / Suze Orman" and I didn't want them to miss out, so I'm re-posting here ...

Important Update on the TD Ameritrade / Suze Orman "Save Yourself Account" Rate:

The APY for this special account is 4.59%. You need to call the number at the www.saveyourselfplan.com (as I just did) to find out the rate. It's not the same rate as the regular TD Ameritrade MMAs.

This is not the highest APY out there for a MMA, but considering that you only have to deposit $600 total over the course of a year (at least $50 per month for 12 months) and that you get the $100 cash bonus at the end of a year, it's actually a great deal!

And by the way, tho this rate is part of Suze Orman's "Women & Money" promotion, I did not find anything that said you had to be female to qualify for the account, so I'm sure you guys are welcome to sign up too.

I managed to catch Suze Orman at the Seattle Public Library. Not only are men allowed, you don't have to buy the book either - she announced the code - 710, and told us to pass the code along. It was her part to "get the savings rate up."

I opened a save yourself account in April of 2007 - last August, I was downsized from the mortgage industry, and had to withdraw the money that was in that account to help pay bills. I checked my TD account today, thinking that its been a year, I should see the $100 that I earned from TD for having this account, and having $50 per month automatically deposited to it. Wrong. I apparently did not see the fine print that said you were not able to withdraw any of the money for one year. Can anyone tell me where this is, as I am not sure where I put the book, and I want to see it in print, for myself. Thank you for any responses.

Anne - This is from the booklet you would have received after opening the account, "Congratulations on Opening your Save Yourself Account" ... There are no page numbers, but it's right across from the page titled "Recurring Electronic Deposit Request"

I am happy that we have the option to withdraw the money and are not locked in . When I opened the acct I got a message saying "Should you need to withdraw the money prior to the 12-month commitment, you may withdraw all of your deposits plus interest earned. However you will forfeit the $100 deposit."
