Grapefruit Season

March 3rd, 2015 at 01:44 am

DH bought a 15-lb bag of Texas red grapefruit for $3.98 today. I love grapefruit season in Texas!

What are the current seasonal deals in your neck of the woods?

Grapefruit in our city in Canada are generally about $ 1. for each grapefruit and with the current exchange rate I expect them to be $ 1.25 ea. We are currently in Thailand with Pomelos somewhat similar to grapefruit. They charge Caucasian two to four times more than locals, about $ 2. a kilo [2.2 lbs]

How do you use 15 lbs within a reasonable time frame?

Mangoes! I can get them at the fruit shop for $1-$2 for 3 while at the supermarket they charge $2-$3 each

Awww, I miss grapefruit. I can't eat them because I take a statin. I don't think we have any current seasonal deals, though I heard about a guy who was selling and shipping snow!

Nothing right now! Still too cold... but since we're right next door to Texas, I'm going to check out the grapefruit! Maybe it'll be on sale... What we grow here: corn, chile, pinto beans. Maybe that's why food is so expensive...

Oh, Texas grapefruit rocks! My mother and I went grocery shopping Friday and we bought a bag of them for a great price. She took most and I kept three. I haven't eaten any yet but tomorrow morning would be a great time for some grapefruit. Thank you for the reminder.

Right now, the best deals here are on grapefruit, avocados, and onions. It's 1015 time! I bought several of those because they make the most delicious French Onion soup and Crack Dip!
