Homemade Freezer Burritos - Looking for Tips

February 27th, 2007 at 05:40 pm

I'd like to make up a batch of homemade burritos and stick them in the freezer to have anytime I want a quick lunch ...which is most days Smile

I know store-bought burritos aren't very expensive if bought in bulk packs, but I'd like to try making healthier versions at home (using whole wheat tortillas, for example).

Have any of you ever done this successfully? What tips can you offer?

This was a staple in my home when all the girls were home. I still make them and send them home with the girls occasionally. My advice, wrap individually in plastic wrap, then put in zip-lock freezer bags.

Cook in microwave for 1 minute, then brown in a fry pan with a little oil if you like them cripsy.

I use big package of ground beef from Costco, 3-6 cans of refriend beans, 1 pound or so of grated cheddar cheese, oh brown some onion with the beef, season with El Pato sauce to taste, that stuff is HOT so be careful. 1/3 cup approximately per flour tortilla.

    Good luck!
