Out of the "No Heat" Contest

December 12th, 2008 at 06:22 pm

DH got up in the middle of the night the other night and turned the heat on for a couple hours. I did not complain. We had a couple days of unusually cold weather (we even got a bit of snow!), and I've been sick with a cold for the past several days, spending most of my days in bed under many blankets while wearing long underwear, turtlenecks, etc.

So, I'm out of the contest! I thought we'd last until January (we're in Texas after all), but with the unusual cold snap and me not feeling well, it just wasn't worth trying to tough it out.

I've been meaning to write more about our househunting trip to San Diego, but I feel too foggy (not because of the house hunt, but because of my cold) ... I'll just say summarize by saying that we have decided to just keep waiting to buy.

    Wimp!

Just kidding. That was very cruel of me, considering that you are sick. Especially since it's coming from someone who isn't even in the contest and already have the heat on.

Seriously, just wanted to say that I hope you get well soon.

Yes, please get better. I dropped out also when we got home from florida. It was getting below 20 at night here in the mountains.

Well, you are probably one of the last hold-outs with the heat, and you beat most of us, so no need to apologize. Get well soon!

Thanks guys --- Today is day 4 of the cold, and I'm feeling 80% better than day 1. The first 2 days I got virtually nothing done; yesterday I got a few things done, and today I think I'll be back to slow-to-normal operating speed.

Well, I bet you won. Is anyone else still holding out? Did yall get snow? Do you know what the house temp was?

Joan otA - Looks like there are 3 who still have not turned on their heat. Yes - we did get a bit of snow, tho' the night we had snow we did not turn on the heat. It was the following night, when the outside temps fell in to the 20's. The in-house temp when we went to bed was getting close to 60 (we're on an upper floor which helps us stay warmer ... good in the winter, not good in the summer), so tho' I'm not 100% sure I think it was probably below 60 when DH got up to turn the heat on. It was around 2 or 3 am, I think .... I was in a cold-induced state of grogginess.
